Welcome to the new (temporary) design!
By Paokens Keeper on October 15th, 2009Posted In: Blog
I’ll keep this brief because bed is calling me. But I was kindly given a beta of the new ComicPress design and I decided to go ahead and play with it. This is supposedly very close to the final version, but I’m not going to start making HUGE changes until the beta’s over. But my putzing with the beta SHATTERED the old code, so I decided to just go ahead and update.
Thus subjecting you to this not quite done monster.
Sorry.
Haha.
But more on that later. The COMIC!
I finally got a SHADING method for the scene that I like…and the scene is over. Figures. Bah. Anyhow, it looks spiffy, doesn’t it? I played with a lot of stuff.
And Kyren’s full meaning is revealed. It’s a little ominous, isn’t it? The real question is whether or not Shale can be trusted either. I’m really happy with the dialogue in this one, I went over it with a fine toothed comb to make sure it was short. To the point. And clear.
I’m trying my best to get to the point. Only have the parts of the conversation that matter without sacrificing the writing.
I rewrote that last panel at least a dozen times…And it’s still not perfect! Bah. It’s good though. Very good. I’m really enjoying the whole ‘write before you start draw’ thing. It’s too bad I didn’t start writing scripts a year ago…We’d be in better shape, haha.
Anyhow, a bit more on the site before I go to beddy-bye.
First, the best thing about this new design is it’s ease of update. 100% of the CSS changes are saved in the constant ‘companion’ plug-in that will NEVER go out of style. So every time I update it’ll look like this to start. Which makes all the finagling I’ll have to do with the PHP much easier!
So, you get the BAREST of changes right now.
Second, go take a look at the archives…Go ahead. I’ll wait….They’re freaking sweet aren’t they? Yeah, Frumph kicks all kinds of ass. The man deserves a medal for his work, and for actually asking my opinion. Which is another reason for the change. I need to see the site under full stress (what little of it I can give) and full browser support.
Hence the return of the Xs…Little bastards are good back up when the good function breaks. But it’ll be back when the beta is over. Don’t worry.
I’m also looking for a better way to get me my nice rounded edges. I heavily dislike the pointyness of the normal appearance, but until I find a GOOD way to make it work, this’ll have to do.
Thanks for understanding.
-Peace
(PS: I’m also adding my moods to the defaults, so I have a HUGE selection now…That I will slowly replace with all my own Paokens!)
